BTRC is a Development Partner of Bangladesh: Prime Minister
PM Inaugurated the of Foundation laying of BTRC, Information Commission Building and BFDC Complex
After long twenty-one years, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission is going to be settled in its own place on an acre of land. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this permanent building of BTRC in the administrative area of Agargaon. On Sunday morning being connected virtually from the Ganobhaban, the PM also inaugurated the foundation stone laying of the newly constructed Information Commission Building and BFDC Complex.
While speaking as the Chief Guest, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned BTRC as a development partner of Bangladesh at the inauguration ceremony of the hybrid system and thanked those concerned with it. She mentioned that, BTRC has deposited revenue worth 4.8 billion US dollars in the last 12 years.
The Prime Minister also said that the Awami League government has made mobile phones accessible to all. That's why the total population of Bangladesh is 17 crore but 18 crore mobile SIMs are being used. 12 crore 72 lakh internet users are connected to the submarine cable so far.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh will also be connected to SEA-ME-WE 6 and all regions of the country will be connected to fiber optic to increase the coverage of the Internet to create new jobs.
The prime minister commented that the film industry of the country, which was in decline, is turning around again due to the use of digital technology. He said, the quality of films in the country is coming back again. Healthy films are being made. But now more and more films need to be made for children.
Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar accompanied the Prime Minister at the inauguration of the BTRC demo building at the Prime Minister's office in Ganabhaban. In the speech given from there, the minister said, today is an extraordinary and historic day for us. You have given BTRC a new direction by inaugurating its own building. The Minister appreciated the Prime Minister's leadership in bringing down the cost of bandwidth and launching 3G to 5G network in line with the world. He further said, the main vehicle of smart Bangladesh is telecommunication. Bangladesh would not have been active in Corona if digital connectivity was not created. BTRC can now contribute more to building Smart Bangladesh.
Earlier, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, being connected from BFDC complex, said that due to the development of the film industry, a film has recently been released in 22 countries. A kilometer long queue is there in Kolkata to watch a Bangladeshi movie is being visible. Bangladesh today is unique in the world in terms of production as well as culture.
BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikdar, Vice President Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed, Commissioner Abu Syed Dilzar Hossain, Engineer Sheikh Riaz Amed and Dr. Mushfiq Mannan Chowdhury were also present at that time.
In addition, the first chairman of BTRC Syed Margub Morshed, former chairman Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud and former chairman Md Zahurul Haque were present.
The Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Abu Hena Murshed Zaman, ISPAB President Imdadul Haque and others spoke after the inauguration ceremony.
